Petrified Movement
If you like looking at paintings, you may like to hear how I find inspiration and set about beginning a painting. I often visit my local beach to enjoy the wildness and sense of space and solitude. I am particularly interested in the patterns and forms of the cliffs and rocks. In this video I share my thoughts as I begin a new painting called Petrified Movement.

Week 2
I have now laid a first layer of paint, established the tonal values and the lines of composition. I will include some oystercatchers to provide a sense of scale and also add life. Painting is such a self-indulgent activity and yet, now that the real painting is about to start, I feel the painting tugging as though it has a life of its own and begins to dictate. I will come back in a couple of weeks to share what happens.
