 On the Cliff-top

Cornwall is a land of myth, ancient, powerful, and elemental.

This, I believe, is inherent in my work...

Walking the Coastpath available in sizes up to 80 x 100cm

This painting tells the story of an intrepid family who set out on an adventure walking the coast-path of North Cornwall. Having walked a long way they find themselves far from any human habitation and dwarfed by an alien landscape. Not far from here are the highest cliffs in Cornwall. Unbeknown to the walkers they are being watched by a peregrine falcon. This is his territory, a wild elemental place where plants and creatures cling to life. It is breathtakingly beautiful but fraught with dangers. Here it is as though a giant has taken a huge spoon to scoop through the rock, so it slips forward and down – a listric fault that can create deep crevasses now hidden beneath bracken and bramble.

The painting has great presence and if you glimpse it sidelong you may even see the waves moving.
